Cat Portrait – Completed

Apr. 26th 2012

Coloured pencil cat.

I didn’t work this one as much as I usually do, using fewer layers of coloured pencil, preferring to let the tone of the paper show through more.

Cat Sketch – Work in Progress

Coloursoft pencils on Mi-Teintes paper.

I want to keep this one fairly simple, and not add as much detail as I usually do, instead utilising the tone of the paper for shading. Whether or not I actually manage to restrain myself, we shall see.

I’m liking the coloursoft pencils a lot for pet portrait work. I’m considering using them for my other work too, though I’ve never been much of a fan of them.

A coloured pencil cat portrait I’ve been working on as a personal piece:

I’ve been trying out Derwent Coloursoft pencils for this portrait. Preferring them so far over my usual Inktense pencils for pet portrait work.
